Safaricom recently launched its “Citizens of the Future” initiative aimed at transforming education in Kenya over the next five years via KSh 30 billion. The programme aims to upgrade 600 learning institutions, provide 10,000 scholarships, and deliver digital skills training to teachers — positioning many schools to become “model institutions” with modern infrastructure and inclusive learning capabilities.
Combined with government support and existing reforms (e.g., under the Competency-Based Curriculum, CBC), this public-private partnership seeks to expand access to technology and improve learning quality across all 47 counties.
