On Wednesday 1st September, Wanjala posted "Hallo guys I must dai (die)" from the comfort of his containment cell. Masten Milimu Wanjala was a Kenyan suspected serial killer. He was accused of killing 14 boys in Nairobi. Wanjala admitted to drugging and murdering more than 10 boys since 2019, and to drinking the blood of some. He gained their confidence by pretending to be a football coach, and held some for ransom.

Wanjala escaped from custody two days ago and as a result three police officers who were on duty when he escaped on Wednesday have been charged with aiding the escape of a suspect and negligence. Police say they noticed he had disappeared during the morning roll call. Masten Wanjala, 20, was traced by villagers to a house in Bungoma town and beaten to death.
