"Women like me are not supposed to run for office. I wasn't born to a wealthy family or powerful family. I was born in a village where the only goal was to survive and 'thriving' is something that I only read in books." she stated on her opening remarks.
"My name is Valentine Otieno, Venturing into politics wasn't the plan, but after years and years of the same representation, we have to ask; who has Kisumu been changing for? Every day gets harder for families to get by." She continued

It's time to fight for a Kisumu that can have single mothers thriving and supported. It's time to fight for a Kisumu that can have the youth involved and heard, that the older who do not have means are supported and that's why I'm running. A Kisumu for us all is possible. Its time for one of us.
I have began a life long journey as one of the leaders of our community. While our future is being designed by our parents and politicians it is only fair that we get a seat at the table and add our voices to the Kisumu we want!
Valentine is advocating for Youth, Women, Single mothers , the very aged and The vulnerable, Blossoming interest rates charged on HELB, Climate Change, Free secondary Education, Holistic Sports and Talents management, Business Incubation Programmes, Free community Child Care centers, access to E-learning and provision of Community Libraries and Universal Access to Women and Youth enterprise funds.
