Daniel Githongo popularly known as DJ Gee Gee is one of the Top Gospel DJs in Kenya and among the co-hosts of Citizen's Bambika Show happening every Sunday. Gee Gee states that the gospel ministry is on shaky grounds and is confident enough that this season will come to pass. Speaking to a popular radio show MSETO EAST AFRICA, Gee Gee gave his take on the scandals surrounding the gospel ministry.

But who exactly is Gee Gee? - Let's backtrack. The name came from Buru Buru when his sister used to sing him a lullaby that really got him excited “Gee Gee Macharia. Ha!” Eventually, everyone in the family started calling him that. Then the name spread in the hood and to church, where his deejaying grew together with it.

After high school, he met George Mathu, who had equipment in his house where he practiced and joined the sound team at Nairobi Lighthouse Church. Parents were a bit concerned about deejaying as a career, so he joined Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, and after four years, got a bachelors degree in Commerce with a major in Marketing in 2009.

The same year, he got a deal with Homeboyz Radio to play on a gospel show called “Trinity Connect” for free. Through that platform, he was able to get a Groove Awards nomination and by God’s grace. DJ Moz eventually noticed him and took him in to the “Kubamba” stable in 2013 and that is how he got the Citizen TV deal to do the show “Bambika”

Now that you have a clear picture of Dj Gee Gee, let's see what he has to say about the looming division in Gospel ministering; fighting against each other. You heard about Mr X and Mr Y, Bwana Mkunaji is no news, we had EMB, we had LUBBISH, we're still having Ringtone and lately Mr Seed vs Weezdom.

"This is just a season like any other, we're on shaky grounds but it'll come to pass. People look upto gospel artists to shine the way and set examples for both saved and not so saved christians. Yes we're not perfect but we can try. This shaky season could be a blessing in disguise, nothing is new under the sun, we had David who committed adultery and murder but then turned out to be a great leader. It will surely come to pass"
